Every year the program serves 14 new students. In twelve years, the NEIU McNair has served a total of 150 students and it has been successful enrolling a high number of underrepresented statuses, low income and underrepresented students in higher education. ? ? ? ? ??

Starting in 2012, the McNair is focusing in the recruitment of students in Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields. Currently, 36 percent?of students belong to these areas.?It is expected that by 2017, 50 perecnt?of our Scholars will come from science-related programs.

The McNair Program has been successful in training its scholars with research activities and enrolling them in graduate studies.

The average grade point average (GPA) of our graduating McNair Scholars are 3.6 on a 4.0 scale.

  • Historically, 100 percent?of NEIU McNair Scholars has completed research and other scholarly activities, such as internal and external summer research programs, research seminar and classes, research conferences, graduate school visits, GRE preparation workshops and other activities conducive to their entrance to graduate programs.

Around 82 percent?of the students enroll in graduate school吉祥棋牌游戏大厅免费下载 by the fall term of the academic year immediately following completion of that degree.

  • Currently there are 42 McNair Scholars students enrolled in Graduate School: 24 in master's?and 18 in Ph.D. programs
  • As of today, 55 NEIU Scholars have attained a master’s degree and five?have attained a Ph.D.

Five Scholars attained a doctoral degree well within the 10 years allotted by the Department of Education to obtain this credential.
